A South Florida rabbi and member of the far-right group the Proud Boys is offering religious exemptions for COVID-19 vaccine requirements to Jews and Gentiles alike.

Asher Meza, who goes by “Rabbi PB” on the Telegram messaging app, began advertising religious exemption letters for people who don’t want COVID-19 vaccines last week on the public Proud Boys Telegram channels. Reached by New Times over the phone Wednesday, Meza estimates that he has already provided 200 letters. Though he is vaccinated, Meza says he wants to offer people the freedom to choose.

“There are people who just want the freedom to get vaxxed or not, who don’t want a mandate,” says Meza. “This form we’re giving to Christians, too. A Christian can embrace the message because we quote from the Bible.”

The religious exemption letter — which is sent via email after filling out a Google form — quotes several verses from the Old Testament to justify the holy objection to vaccine mandates. Quoting from Genesis, the letter states that because humans are made in God’s image, they should not acquiesce to “biological alterations” to their bodies.

  1. These Proud Boy rabbis won’t be alone anymore. One of these days there will be an asifa of Rabbonim in the US and then in Israel to put an end to the lethal jabs. What will the politicians do if chareidim will say their Rabbi forbids them to take it? How will doctors and nurses earn their thousands of dollars bribe if chareidim will stop going to the slaughter?

    • Agreed. With all the information that is out there, only an emmeseh shoyta would take a Covid Vaccine now. It’s assur to have rachmanus on a shoyta so if you know a neighbor or the guy next to you in Shul took the vaccine, kick him. Such stupid worthless sheeple. These are the same people who would of raced to be the first ones to enter the cattle cars. Government says, and I’m a good obedient Jew.

      • Just pointing out. Among those who say to take the vaccine are R’ Chaim Kanievsky, R’ Gershon Edlstien, And in America, R’ Elya Brudney and R’ Yisroel reisman.
        Proud to be an emesdige!

      • >>> … if you know a neighbor or the guy next to you in Shul took the vaccine, kick him.

What are you going to do when he reacts by slashing you in half with his machete?

        • Rule number 1: Never pick a fight with someone who is bigger and stronger than you.
The odds of a person bringing a machete to Shul is extremely rare. Especially if it wasn’t toiveled first.
Let’s go. Are you ready for a knuckle sandwich?

WHile I’m sure there may be Chashuva Rabbanim who oppose it, I would hardly be nervous that “their rabbis will forbisd them to take it”.
