Vladimir Putin was issued another stern warning by Western leaders at a G20 summit on Shabbos, when they threatened to levy more economic sanctions against him if Russia does not end its backing for separatist rebels in Ukraine.
Russia has denied having a role in the escalation of the separatist movement in eastern Ukraine, but still faces criticism from leaders including U.S. President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harmer.
“I guess I’ll shake your hand but I have only one thing to say to you: you need to get out of Ukraine,” Harper told Putin at the summit, according to his spokesperson, who added that Putin’s response was not positive. Read more.
