Qantas Airways Limited, the leading airline in Australia, has received a rebuke from a national Jewish organization for a decision by staffers to display Palestinian flag pins on a Dec. 20 flight from Melbourne to Hobart.

A man who is not Jewish took photos of the staffers during the flight’s food service and told Sky News that he felt “intimidated” by the display.

“If employees are found to be using their roles for political activism while passengers are essentially captive in the air, they should be dismissed,” said Robert Gregory, CEO of the Australian Jewish Association.

A spokesperson for Qantas stated that crew members cannot “wear any badges unless they are part of the approved uniform policy” and that “every customer should feel safe and respected when flying on a Qantas Aircraft.”

Qantas will be “counseling” the crew members regarding their on-the-job advocacy against Israel. JNS

  1. they support terrorism – they might decide to sabotage the plane. they should be dismissed, not “councilled”

    • Relax. Although Hamas is a terrorist organization, Hamas is not representative of all the “Palestinian” people.

Wearing a Palestinian pin does not at all denote supporting terrorism. They very well could mean that, but you cannot at all conclusively infer that.

  2. They’ve earned our disrespect. But we’ll continue to fly Qantas and JetBlue and United because that’s what we do! That’s what we do! We respect the dollar no matter how we’re treated! That’s what we do!

    • Of course! We continue to shop in the “frum” stores no matter how much they overcharge and take advantage of us because thats what we do!! We fly the airlines that treat us with contempt because that’s what we do!! The ALMIGHTY $$$ is more important to us than anything else
