Qantas Airlines had once again been crowned the world’s safest airline by the AirlineRatings website..

Qantas held the accolade of AirlineRatings’ world safest airline from 2014 to 2017, but took joint honors in 2018 when the website chose not to rank its top 20.

For 2019, Qantas is singled out as the best, while the remaining 19 safest airlines haven’t been ordered and are instead listed alphabetically.

The result is a list that includes what the website calls a “who’s who of airlines,” praised for being reliable and secure.

The top 20 are: Air New Zealand, Alaska Airlines, All Nippon Airways, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, EVA Air, Finnair, Hawaiian Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Scandinavian Airline System, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, and United Airlines and Virgin group of airlines (Atlantic and Australia).

    • Do you expect the Airline Ratings to say that EL-AL is the top and has been the top of the top all the years? They want to give other airlines a chance? Besides, you never know how much bribery was involved from Qantas to put themselves on top.

Actually, it’s safer for El-Al that it’s not listed. אין הברכה מצויה אלא בדבר הסמוי מן העין Blessing only comes on something hidden from view. (בבא מציעא מב ע”א)

  1. El Al is not on the list as its is well known that El Al constantly deals with all kinds of threats, real or just theoretical. Just that alone makes El Al not the safest.
As opposed to Quantas, an airline from the most relaxed country in the world, no threats, no crazed lone wolf wanting revenge, no problems. Add to that a top notch safety record and you have a winner!
