candle-small3Hundreds gathered in Lakewood, NJ, today for the levaya of R’ Aharon Sturman z”l, who was niftar at the age of 37 after battling illness for several years. R’ Aharon was a son of Rav Shimon Dovid Sturman zt”l, maggid shiur at the Philadelphia Yeshiva, and a son-in-law of Chazzan Shimon Kugel.

At the levaya at the Holocaust Memorial Chapel of Congregation Sons of Israel, maspidim included Rav Dovid Trenk, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Moreshes Yehoshua; Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of BMG; Rav Shmuel Blech, rov of Khal Anshei Sfard; Rav Yehudah Svei, R”M at the Philadelphia Yeshiva; Reb Malkiel Svei; R’ Moshe Sturman and R’ Yaakov Sturman.

Kevurah took place at the United Hebrew Cemetery in Staten Island.

R’ Aharon is survived by his wife and three children, his mother and siblings, grieving family members and countless friends and acquaintances.

The family is sitting shivah at 5 Devash Court in Lakewood.

  2. He was the most gentle giant in his prime. Always quick with a humorous line and big smile.
    Loved everyone, and like his great father zt’l, everyone was convinced that they were his best friend. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone including a total stranger.
    if someone was feeling down, he would pick them up, sometimes literally grab them and hoist them up in the air, and when they were back on solid footing were ‘cured’ of the problem.
    He is very much missed.
