  1. BDE. His father established it probably in the 70’s and already then, it was very popular. The Mendelsohns were ehrlich, menschlich people and provided good service. This, combined with the fantastic location right near the 18th Ave. F train station made it a favorite stop for many. Kalmen took over when his parents moved to E”Y something like 35-40 years ago. His father, a talmid chochom, became the Rov of the Chassidishe minyan in Ramot Polin, Yerushalayim when it was a newly built neighborhood. Kalmen kept up the business’s good name with his own sterling character.
May the entire family have a nechama.

  2. Yiddishe Mamma, I have good memories of going to Mendelsohns as a teenager in Boro Park, when it was just a small almost hole in the wall, yet very popular. I continued going there after I married and moved to Lakewood, whenever I came to Boro Park. However, I wonder if you’re right about the parents moving to E”Y that long ago. I remember that relatively recently, the father was still at the register taking payment, even after the children took over the business. BD”E
