It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of R’ Pinchos Podrabinik z”l, one of the last remaining Alter Mirrers, talmidim of the pre-war Mirrer Yeshiva in Poland and later Shanghai. He was 93 years old.
R’ Pinchos was a fixture at the Mirrer Minyan in Boro Park for some 60 years. He was beloved and admired, as he shared his reminiscences of his years with the Torah greats of the Mir of old and served as a link to a bygone world of Torah and avodah.
The last few years, R’ Pinchos resided at the home of his son, R’ Baruch Cohen, in Lakewood, NJ.
The levaya will take place today, Tisha B’Av, at noon, at Congregation Sons of Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Chapel, located at 613 Ramsey Street, off of East 7th Street, in Lakewood, NJ. The aron will then be taken to New York for kevurah in Queens.
