Rabbi Aaron Kotler is stepping down from his position at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ.

Rabbi Kotler has carried the title of CEO/president/menahel of the yeshiva for almost three decades.

Under his watch, the yeshiva never missed a kollel check and managed the finances of the yeshiva with aplomb.

Rumors of his resignation have been swirling for quite some time.

Rabbi Kotler is a son of Rav Shnuer Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, and a grandson of Rav Aharon Kotler, founding rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha.

His brother, Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, is one of the four roshei yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoah, along with his brother-in-law, Rav Dovid Schustal, and Rav Yeruchem Olshin and Rav Yisroel Neuman.

The news comes on the heels of the unrelated major increase in kollel checks announced last month, an initiative led by Monsey askan Lazer Scheiner.

In an address today to staff members at Beth Medrash Govoha, Rabbi Kotler announced that he is stepping down, hoping to spend more time with his family.

Beth Medrash Govoha is the largest yeshiva in the country.

  1. Yasher Koach to R” Aron for his amazing professional leadership. He bought the Yeshiva to a whole new level of administration. We wish him much Hatzlacha in whatever work he will do especially the Klal work that he is sure to continue.
The Yeshiva too should have greater Hatzlacha as they will surely find new administrative leadership who will work closely with R’ Aron during the transition and with the Roshei Yeshiva.

  2. He wanted 15 Million to leave , he was offered 10 Million and rejected that. He got the 15
