It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Avrohom Powers z”l of Philadelphia, PA.
Rabbi Powers was the former mashgiach of the Yeshiva of Rochester (TIUNY.)
The levaya was held today at Cong. Ahavas Torah on Rhawn Street in Philadelphia.
The aron was then brought to New York, making a brief stop at the Yeshiva’s Kukin Campus in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens.
The aron then proceeded to JFK Airport for transport to Eretz Yisroel.
The kevurah in Eretz Yisroel will take place tomorrow at about 1 p.m. at the Eretz HaChaim Cemetery in Bet Shemesh, in the Yeshiva’s section.
Shiva will be observed until Friday afternoon at 7617 Dorcas Street in Philadelphia. The phone number there is 215-745-1557.

no one has touched me more then Rabbi Powers . He was my rebbe in high school,, My masade kidushin.but more then that, for many he was a surogate father , source of great humor. An example for which All people shold live by. He was the most patient person I have ever met . Always calm . Very humble.I share with the hundreds of boys he saw become men , a great sense of loss. He was part of who I am today. Rebbe you will be missed.
Zorch….I have just now learned of your passing. My friend , your memory is for a blessing …and your spirit still guides me .
