It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rabbi Chaim Moshe Stauber z”l, one of the pillars of the Satmar kehillah and the former editor of the Der Yid newspaper. He was 76 years old.

Reb Chaim Moshe was one of the well-known figures in the Satmar community. Reb Chaim Moshe served as the personal hoiz bochur of the Satmar Rebbe, Rav Yoel Teitelbaum zt”l. As a close attendant and personal confidant handpicked by the rebbe for many important missions, for over 20 years he served as the rebbe’s right-hand-man, until the rebbe’s final days.

Reb Chaim Moshe later authored a fascinating biography about the rebbe, together with Devorah Gliksman, titled “The Satmar Rebbe: The Life and Times of Rav Yoel Teitelbaum zt”l, A CLose Talmid’s Personal Recollections,” chronicling the rebbe’s remarkable life and providing a personal account of the rebbe’s wisdom, passion, chesed, and sensitivity toward every Jew. It’s an enlightening and historical work.

Reb Chaim Moshe was also a talented writer in Yiddish who wrote many articles over the years and, as mentioned, served as editor-in-chief of the Der Yid newspaper.

Reb Cham Moshe was involved in many communal undertakings for the Hisachdus Harabbonim, as well as organizations such as Kollel Shomrei Hachomos and others.

Yehi zichro boruch.
