It is with great sadness that we report the sudden passing of Rabbi Chizkiyahu Yosef Leibowitz zt”l of Yerushalayim at the age of 40. Rabbi Leibowitz was a son of Rav Chaim Shlomo Leibowitz, rosh yeshiva of the yeshivos of Ponovezh and Kamenitz, and a great-grandson of Rav Boruch Ber Leibowitz zt”l. He was a son-in-law of Rav Yosef Zimbal, rov of West Gate in Lakewood.
Rabbi Leibowitz was a phenomenal talmid chochom who spent his days fully immersed in limud haTorah.
Rabbi Leibowitz is survived by his wife and six children.
The levaya was held at Yeshivas Mir-Yerushalayim and kevurah took place on Har Hamenuchos.
Yehi zichro boruch.

what a loss.
These kind of things happening & people being Niftar at young ages or in strange ways RL are all wake up call to klal yisroel that we only care about ourselves, but when it comes to helping/caring for another yid then i cannot help you.
with that being the case, each time tragedy strikes Hashem has the same question-for each person separately-now you have woken up, now you are crying at a levaya RL but when we hear of someone else in tragic cases we dont care. hashem then wants to know if we will wake up now to help others or do we need another tragic WAKE-UP call from hashem CV to care for one another?
helping a yid doesnt have to cost money.
what do you/we do when you/we hear that 8 were killed & 50 were injured in Israel? Nothing we put our heads down for a second & say to ourselves Hashem bring the ????? & then we forget about it & go one with our lives. If any of us do care, we only think about the dead, & we think injured means the beginning of an arrow went into his hand & the doctor must pull it out & hes just bleeding a little, but you know something, injured can also be 98% dead for life. We dont care & do not know what it means to care for our brothers in Israel. over 3000 have passed away how many more is Hashem going to have to kill until we all know what it means to care for our brothers in Israel?.what about the sin of ?? ???? ?? ?? ??? Dont stand idly by as your brother is getting killed, the problem is WE DO. Anyone (of us) that has the power to do something & doesnt is doing this sin you dont need to be standing near the body. Maybe send some money to Israel, say a ??? in ?????.
A true talmid chochom, and a gaon in middos!! chaval al deabdin!
Isn’t his fathers name Reb Chaim Peretz lebowitz, and not Chaim Shlomo as in the article?
Please correct.
Editor responds:
No. It is Rav Chaim Shlomo, as the article states.
