On Monday, 7 Elul/August 16, Rabbi Dr. Eliezer (Leon) Ehrenpreis, internationally renowned mathematical researcher and eminent Torah scholar, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away.
In addition to his celebrated accomplishments in mathematics, Dr. Ehrenpreis was a respected talmid chacham who received semicha from Rav Moshe Feinstein. Viewed in the greater Jewish community as a “bridge between two worlds,” Dr. Ehrenpreis served for many years as an advisor on mathematical and scientific issues to Rav Moshe.
Rabbi Dr. Ehrenpreis is survived by his wife, Ahava (née Sperka), originally of Detroit, Michigan, his eight children, his thirteen grandchildren, and his brother.
Yehi zichro boruch.

I knew him from Young Israel Avenue J. Sweet man. Will be missed.
I knew him as a friend, as an insightful and gifted mathematician, and as a colleague at Temple University. I will miss him dearly.
A great man, a good man, a unique man. We will miss him
A true Talmid Chachum and a unique human being, I had the pleasure of knowing him for many years and I am greatly saddened by this news.
Klal Yisroel will surely miss him and his Chidushei Torah.
