It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Dr. Moshe Rothschild z”l of Bnei Brak. He was 90 years old.
A noted baal chesed and askan, Dr. Rothschild was most well-known for founding the famed Ma’ayanei Hayeshua Medical Center in Bnei Brak.
Located in one of Israel’s largest cities, with well over 1,000 monthly births and one of the busiest delivery rooms in Eretz Yisroel, the 28-year-old Ma’aynei Hayeshua has several hundred beds and many growing departments as well as a dozen outpatient clinics.
The hospital also has a cardiology institute, a massive mental health center, and other services designed by Dr. Rothschild to provide modern and sophisticated medical services that adhere to Jewish law and tradition, with a strong conviction that the sanctity of life is a supreme value.
Dr. Rothschild was former immigrant from Switzerland, who came from the German branch of the Rothschild family. Dr. Rothschild was a physician as well as businessman who was involved in real estate.
MHMC was founded as a 150-bed facility that expanded rapidly.
Dr. Rothschild was niftar on Shabbos.
He and his wife Rosa had 17 children, who survive him along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

I thought that there are no Jewish kehalacha descendants of the famous and rich Rothschild family – they worshipped money, baptised and intermarried themselves the way of the dodo bird. There are other Jews with last name Rothschild though, unrelated to the celebrity ones. Was reb Moshe from the unrelated to the big-shots Rothschilds?
