melamed-granotRabbi Eliezer Melamed, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Har Bracha, which was removed from the Hesder roster by Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak after Rabbi Melamed reportedly voiced support for insubordination in the army, says that a recent interview with the Mishpacha Magazine contained a number of inaccuracies and misrepresentations.

The claim was reported in the B’Sheva Magazine, according to a report on Kikar.net.

“Some of it was styled like an interview, but the answers were actually what I had written for Arutz Sheva,” said Rabbi Melamed, “and a few questions which I had responded to via email.”

“The article was replete with mistakes and serious errors. Some of them, which may have compromised the kavod of the Hesder Yeshiva and its rabbonim, are simply not true,” he said.

Since he was misquoted, and what was written could have halachic implications, said Rabbi Melamed, he feels “compelled to make a statement not to trust what is written there.”
Rabbi Melamed added that “what he has heard” about the author of the article, R’ Aharon Granot, is that “he is a good man.”
Granot, in a response published by Bechadrei Chareidim, disputed Rabbi Melamed’s claim, saying “with great regret and sorrow” that his words are “far from accurate.” He added that if Rabbi Melamed does not issue an apology during the next week, he will sue him, “and that is what I intend to do.”

  1. Two torah viewpoints that are not able to hear, listen or understand each other. Most magazine interviews are not totally accurate and should be reviewed by both sides before publication.

  2. Sue? The day after Asoro BeTeves? Do his ears hear what his mouth is saying? If this is true, it is the last article that I can read from that author. The Aibishter zol hitten. We need rachmai shamayim to bring moshiach.
