It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Mordechai Kriger z”l of Lawrence, NY. He was 82 years old when he was niftar on Friday.

Born on June 29, 1937, Reb Mordechai was a noted tomeich Torah and talmid chochom. A true ben Torah throughout his life, Reb Mordechai felt most comfortable in a bais medrash, learning and plumbing the depths of the Yam Hatalmud.

Reb Mordechai maintained a close kesher with many rabbonim and roshei yeshiva. He was a talmid of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas and was close to the rosh yeshiva, Rav Yisroel Belsky, with whom he had a lifelong kesher and from whom he received semicha. In fact, when he was in Torah Vodaas elementary school, Rav Belsky was Reb Mordechai’s classmate.

Even when Reb Mordechai took his considerable talents into the business world, this did not detract at all from his love of Torah learning.

Reb Mordechai authored Sefer Chasdei Hashem, original insights on the weekly parsha.

Reb Mordechai established the Chasdei Hashem Foundation Trust, through which he distributed tens of thousands of dollars to tzedakah.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Miriam Kriger, and their wonderful family.

The levayah was held at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels in Hewlett, NY.

Shivah will take place at the Kriger home, located at 333 Ocean Avenue in Lawrence, NY.

Yehi zichro boruch.
