It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the sudden passing of Rabbi Moshe Burstein z”l, former member of the Ashdod City Council on behalf of United Torah Judaism. He was 71.
Late Motzoei Shabbos, Rav Moshe suffered a cardiac event and was taken to Kaplan Hospital in Rechovot, where he passed away.
Rav Moshe, a resident of Rova Gimmel in Ashdod, was born on 16 Adar תש”ה, to his father, Rabbi Bentzion Burstein, and his mother, Mrs. Miriam Burstein.
Many years ago, he served as a representative of Agudas Yisroel in the Ashdod City Council before the establishment of Degel HaTorah.
He was an askan who worked purely l’sheim Shomayim and was highly regarded by everyone who knew him. A true yorei Shomayim, he was a role model to many people and a friend to many others.
He leaves behind doros yeshorim, children and grandchildren who continue his way. His son, Rabbi Shalom Gershon Burstein, is the rosh kollel of Kollel Yissochor B’ohalecha in Modiin Illit.
The levaya was held tonight at the Ashdod Bais Hachaim, where he was buried.

Reb Moishe. We will really miss you. Your charm and love for klal yisrael are unmatched. You went out of your way to make our family comfortable when we came to visit eretz yisrael.
