It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Moshe Gavriel Stefansky zt”l. He was 77 years old.

Rabbi Stefansky was formerly of Boro Park and lived during the last period in Lakewood, NJ.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hindel Stefansky; their sons, R’ Chaim Stefansky, R’ Yosef Stefansky and R’ Yaakov Yitzchok Stefansky; and their daughters of the Cohen, Altusky, Borchardt, Block, Lipschutz and Magid families; and many grandchildren following in his ways.

The levayah will take place at 11 a.m. at the Lakewood Minyan, located at 5121 16th Avenue in Boro Park, followed by kevurah at 3:15 p.m. at at the bais hachaim located adjacent to the Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, at 613 Ramsey Street, off of East Seventh Street in Lakewood, NJ.

  1. This was a man who lived to help others. Always aware of the need, always anxious to help in such a way as to make the recipient feel respected. May his neshoma now reap its well-earned reward.

  2. I was very saddened to hear of the petira of this Tzadik who personified simchas hachaim and thinking of others. They don’t make them like him anymore. May his beautiful mishpacha take comfort in the fact that they merited being (and still are) children and grandchildren of such a wonderful and special man who surely is being lovingly embraced by his Totty in Shamayim.

  3. He was a man who lived his days taking satisfaction from genuine accomplishments based on strong Torah values. A day when he could help another Yid – that was a good day! His passing leaves a great void.
