It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Gimpel Mordechai Daniel (Motti) Katz z”l.

Rav Katz the longtime rabbi at NYU Langone Medical Center in Manhattan.

Rabbi Katz fell into critical condition after contracting the Noval Coronavirus.

Reb Motti was a son of Rav Chaim Tzvi Katz of Telz, Cleveland. He lived in Passaic and inspired so many people through his emunah during a life of challenges and struggles.

  1. A special person, who nurtured hospital patients, despite the fact that (to my knowledge) he was not blessed with children. May all his good deeds serve as his continuity.

  4. I was twice a patient in his hospital. It was a privilege to know him. His desire to take away a patient’s pain was as strong as if it was his own pain. Since he was a cohen he blessed me every single day I was there. He never had his own children, but with his wife they run girls’ dormitory where no doubt their chased was without limits. He will be sorely missed.
