Rabbi Shlomo Lankry zt”l

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Shlomo Lankry zt”l. He was 82.

Rabbi Lankry led the Moroccan kehillah of Flatbush, which he founded three decades ago.

A native of Morocco, Rabbi Lankry learned at the renowned yeshiva of Rav Moshe Yehuda Schneider zt”l in England. After returning to Morocco, he subsequently immigrated to the United States, where he was involved in harbotzas haTorah, kiruv levavos and chesed for decades, working together with others such as Rav Avrohom Kalmanowitz to establish mosdos for those of Sephardic origin who were transplanted to American shores. He was also involved in the chevrah kadisha for half a century.

Rabbi Lankry operated the Sisu seforim store on King Highway, around the corner from Mirrer Yeshiva, in Flatbush for many years.

His wife, Mrs. Zahavah Lankry, served as the beloved cook in Camp Agudah for many years.

The levayah will take place today at 3 p.m. at Kollel Ohel Moshe, located 1848 East 7th Street in Flatbush. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.

Rabbi Lankry is survived by his wife, Mrs.  Zahavah Lankry, their sons, Reb Aharon Lankry of Monsey and Reb Moshe Lankry of Lakewood, and their daughters, Miriam, Emily and Eede.
