It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Yehuda Lichter z”l of Monsey, NY.

Rabbi Lichter served as the devoted administrator of Yeshiva Bais Dovid of Monsey for about half a century. Rabbi Lichter’s tireless efforts on behalf of Bais Dovid were a result of his dedication to chinuch habonim in general. This was apparent in the respect he displayed for the rabbeim, the close relationship he forged with the parents of the yeshiva, and the care he had for the talmidim.

Rabbi Lichter was involved in every aspect of the yeshiva, including the building, fundraising projects, the kitchen, and the summer camp.

This was his sacred mission, to raise doros equipped to carry on the mesorah hatehorah of past generations.

Rabbi Lichter was a role model for the rabbeim, parents and talmidim of the yeshiva, who will never forget his appearance, chochmah, simchas hachaim and yiras Shomayim, which are etched in their minds and hearts, as he was model to learn from and emulate.

The years that Rabbi Lichter devoted to Bais Dovid could never have been undertaken without the support, understanding and partnership of his aishes chayil, Mrs. Lichter.

Rabbi Lichter served as one of the founders and the gabbai at the Breslover Bais Medrash Birkas Hanachal in Monsey.

The levayah will start this morning, at 9:30 a.m., at the Breslover Bais Medrash Birkas Hanachal, located at 70 Main Street in Monsey. The levayah will continue at 10:30 a.m. at Yeshivas Bais Dovid, located at 22 W. Maple Avenue. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. My son was having painful social problems with his classmates many years ago and it was Rabbi Lichter who saved him. He told my son “I’m your friend. Come to my office anytime to talk”. My son took full advantage and his problem became manageable.
Recently,I decided to pay him a visit, not knowing if he’d be conscious. He was awake and alert. I asked him if he remembered me. He said,”Of course! How’s Avi?”
