Rav Aharon Teitelbaum of Satmar blasted the frum community after Election Day regarding what he called the “Trumpism” that has overtaken much of the frum community.

“Trumpism became entangled in the Jewish camp,” he said in a drasha at his yeshiva in Kiryas Yoel, according to a report in the Forward. “This Trumpism twisted the minds of so many Yidden. It brainwashed people – and that’s so painful.”

He alluded to many frum people backing Rep. Lee Zeldin, and former President Donald Trump, who told voters to “punish” Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul, who beat Zeldin in a close race on Tuesday.

Rav Aharon’s Satmar community backed Hochul.

Rav Aharon said that Hochul’s victory is not a personal win for him. “I am not a candidate, I didn’t run, I didn’t even win,” he said. “I thought about what is the best way to battle the decree on our education.”

  1. Wow after the election. Everyone knows what trump is and stands for. It took 2 years for a statement?
When the republicans have lost. Kick them while their down. Bash trump and conservatives get closer to the democrats reap rewards.
Does the grand rebbe comment on what democrats and liberals stand for?

    • Many of you wouldn’t remember that Satmer received a lot of government funding for education, a huge windfall some 20-25 years ago. They had to remove all the mezuzahs from their school buildings in order to qualify as a “secular” school system. They did that

    • Everyone is misunderstanding the Rebbe.
He isnt saying one should or shouldnt back Trump or Zeldin.
He is simply saying that instead of everyone looking at this from a logical perspective, too many people are “caught up” in the “ism” that became of Trump.
Thats all. And sadly, he is obviously very correct!
I too think Trump had better policies and goals than the democrats. But he was also dangerously petty in his politics. And still is.

The point is, vote for who you feel is better, but if your getting emotional/personal, thats a good sign that your probably brainwashed.

  2. Although I do agree, and honestly believe that the reason trump lost in 2020 was because the yidden had become totally engrossed in trump, we have organizations dedicated to politics. So Hashem in all his glory wanted to show that you could be busy from today to tomorrow but I and only I run this world, and control this world.
If you don’t like or agree with my opinion, tough luck on you because I could care less!!

  3. Maybe they’d care to explain what’s so wrong with a yid being enthusiastic about a fighter for those who believe in Hashem and his values (on their level), law and order, morality etc.
And more importantly, what’s so great about backing pro-criminal, immorality, chinuch invasion, high taxes… Not being ashamed and having some תירוץ is one thing, but to offensively give us מוסר?! – wow. The disconnect is just amazing.

  4. “I thought about what is the best way to battle the decree on our education.” Really now????? The best way is for Klal Yisroel to be B’Achdus and not endorse people based on personal gain for their own
Community. Maybe if EVERYONE joined together we could have ousted the מכשיפה from Albany. I know Hashem runs the world and will help us no matter who is the governor but as Yidden we need to be strong and put our foot down when they try playing with our Yiddishe Mesorah and not let politics (or money) blind us.

    • You may not know this but your voting record is public. Anyone can see if you voted in a particular election. We can’t see who you voted for but we can see if you voted or just told others that you voted. Elected officials almost always check this information after each election to see where they need to “get out the vote”. Over the past 30 years I’ve noticed that the Frum community talks big but does little. Fewer than 40% of the community actually votes. Yidden scream, yell and complain but we don’t vote. You think no one knows? Don’t bet on it. Every politician knows where the votes come from. That’s why they treat us like garbage, because we talk a lot but we have no voting block. Then there are the uninformed teachers who tell their students that “You have to register as a Democrat in New York in order to vote”. My own granddaughter, upon graduation from Bais Yaacov, was told that by her idiot teacher. If the majority of a community is registered as DemocRATs then Republicans won’t pay much attention to that community and vice versa. There is actually a system to campaigning and then rewarding or punishing communities. Don’t take my word, do your own research. You’ll be amazed and maybe you’ll register to vote (hopefully as a Republican) and vote in future elections.

  5. The rebbe is 100% correct about the Trumpisim. However is he accusing Rabbi Riessman and the other mosdos hatorah of supporting Zelden because of Trumpisim? The fact is the Mosdos Hatorah endorsed Zelden because of the attack on Yeshiva system and specifically the chasidishe school system. Like it or not Satmar is the face of the chasidishe yeshivos by supporting Hochal they are telling those fighting for them that they aren’t serious in the fight against the SED. Satmar should just be honest and say “we have a village that has certain needs like a major water project therefore we support Houchal and Maloney” I may disagree but at least you justified yourself honestly.

  6. Why is he saying that? I’ve been praying for President Trump several times daily since he took office in 2017 and haven’t stopped.

  7. He alluded to many frum people backing Rep. Lee Zeldin, and former President Donald Trump, who told voters to “punish” Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul, who beat Zeldin in a close race on Tuesday.

I don’t know ANYONE who voted for Zeldin because of Trump and didn’t see that suggested ANYWHERE in the frum world before the elections. I can guarantee that had everything else been the same but it was Hochul who was strongly supporting the Yeshivas (and to a lesser degree focusing on crime) and Zeldin been apathetic about both the frum world would have went for Hochul. This election had nothing to do with Trump.

In anything I would say the oppisite. Those who think this election was about Trump have fallen for the Democratic manipulative tactic of claiming all opposition to them is all only because people are brainwashed “Trump cultists”

  8. Trump worked to keep the illegals and drugs out of our country. The RINOS refused to allocate more money for the wall. Now under Biden , the deadly drugs are everywhere , injuring and killing our youth. This epidemic has also hit our frum communities very hard . So we suffer from Trumpism because we support and love him ? The Democrats are dealing death & destruction across our land.

  9. We should pay attention to what the great צדיק Rav Avigdor Miller had to say on the subject. There was no mistake. It was an obligation.

“ We should vote for the one who appears to us to be the most conservative. Now, I can’t tell you who that is. But there’s no question that the conservatives of today are extremely more liberal than the liberals of thirty years ago. We have already advanced so far beyond the borders of liberalism, that today we can afford to retreat many miles behind these boundries and still remain in the forefront of liberalism. And therefore, today there’s no such thing as too much conservatism. You have to vote for conservative candidates on every level – on national, state and city levels.

  10. Someone showed a little video with the following: (Not sure if the video may be added here.)

Interesting information coming in from NY. There’s was nothing coming in from NY all evening and all of a sudden it was 99% posted in the governor’s race for NY.
When scrolling over the red [where Zeldin officially won], it shows Zeldin at 63.1% and Hochul at 36.90% with 95% votes counted. EXACTLY, IDENTICALLY 34,311 people voting for Zeldin and EXACTLY 20,064 people voting for Hochul in EACH OF THE RED counties.

While in the Blue districts [where Hochul officially won], they ALSO have EXACT number of votes duplicated over and over again for each of the candidates. But they have 3 different amounts because there were ‘obviously’ more Blue districts.
In the Blue districts they had:
EXACTLY 113,228 people voted 75.30% and Zeldin EXACTLY 37,143 people voted 24.70% in SOME OF THE BLUE counties.
OR 73,693 votes 69.64% and Zeldin 32,134 votes 30.36% in SOME OF THE BLUE counties.
OR 145,415 votes 85.40% and Zeldin 24,857 votes 14.60%. in SOME OF THE BLUE counties.

  11. Satmar Kehilla have continously voted Democratic, as that is where their bread is buttered.
The election for Lee Zeldin had zero connection to Trump, rather it was to appoint a governor who advocates for freedom in Jewish Education and will fight to clean the streets of crime in N Y. Why the Satmar Rebbe would negate those TWO BIGGIES ?!?!
