satmar1Koznitz, the southwestern neighborhood of Kiryas Yoel, has grown tremendously in the last few years. Carter Lane, Koznitz Road, Schunnemunk Road, David Wieder Boulevard and Zenta Road, the streets of the Koznitz, are all bustling with activity from early morning until late night. The huge increase in population required a rov to oversee and coordinate religious developments and activities within the neighborhood.

Rav Aharon Teitelbaum of Satmar announced the appointment of Rav Boruch Teitelbaum as the new rov for the two main shuls in the Koznitz neighborhood: Vayoel Moshe and Berach Moshe. Rav Boruch Teitelbaum, Yoshev Rosh of the Vaad Hakashrus of Kiryas Yoel, is married to Rebbetzin Sarah Miriam Teitelbaum, second child and eldest daughter of Rav Aharon. Rav Boruch is a son of Rav Nochum Ephraim Teitelbaum, the Volover Rov in Boro Park. Rav Boruch is a relatively long-time resident of Koznitz.

In addition to the rov, Rav Yosef Moshe Shtauber was appointed as dayan for the Koznitz neighborhood. Rav Shtauber has been giving shiurim daily at both shuls since their inception.

At a lavish kiddush after davening this past Shabbos, Reb Dovid Ekstein noted the importance of the appointments and the great services that will further enhance the new neighborhood. Reb Akiva Hersh Klein was widely thanked for his contribution of the multi-thousand-volume otzar haseforim to the bais medrash dedicated to the memory of his late father-in-law, Reb Menachem Zev ben Avrohom Abba Hirsch z”l.

The appointment of Rav Boruch Teitelbaum as rov of the Koznitz neighborhood is another stage of growth in Kiryas Yoel, which today ranks as one of the fastest growing communities in the United States.
