rav-amnon-yitzchakYesterday, cannons were fired on the northern border of Israel after a long period of quiet. Israel again finds itself in a difficult security situation, which has claimed the life of a soldier. Kassams have returned and rockets are being fired.

Against the background of these events are recent statements from several rabbonim predicting that a war will break out real soon in Israel.

Rav Eliezer Berland, a leading rov of the Breslover community, told his Chassidim recently to daven because a war would break out on 22 Av.

A few days later, Rav Amnon Yitzchak said during a drasha in Modi’in Illit that within weeks, a bloody war will break out.

“Wars do not happen during winter,” said Rav Yitzchak. “The Iranian nuclear threat is ticking, and the military will not drag the war into the winter, so as not to drown in the Lebanese mud.”

Rav Yitzchak addressed the recent tragedies, including the loss of six lives in the Air Force crash during training in Romania.

“The army is doing preparations for an attack on Iran,” said Rav Yitzchak.

In recent days, Rav Mordechai Genut, author of the “Dovor Be’itoluach, said that “Based on the stars, war will break out next month.”

  1. we believe that Moshiach is coming..but we are wondering, why Rav Amnon Yitzchok said that wars don’t happen in the winter..we never heard this before..of course, the iranians are planning, but our Tefillohs will surely show them whose in charge..

  2. I’ll put my faith in Hashem ok forsure. But listen to Gedole Torah. I was there in Israel in May and they started clearing all the bunkers of Yerushalayim b/c the municipality said a war will ‘probably’ break out this summer.

  3. Once thing is clear frightning days are coming (but hopefully won’t affect us jews allover the world). It’s not just Rav Amnon Yitzchok that is predicting this, every single one of us knows it, inside we are all afraid, we know we must prepare “ourselves” for the coming of moshiach. So why should someone play down these messages??? WE PRAY EVERY TIME IN SHI’MONEH ESS’REI “v’sechzenah ei’neinu b’shuvchah l’tzion B’rachamim”

  4. This is the problem with media, it reports, and suddenly its true. There is a saying “..When even the truth is a lie” that i believe very much applies here. As in even if he did say “there are no wars in the winter” or whatever, he did not mean that, you must take into account the context, perhaps he meant this war will not be during winter “so as not to get stuck in Lebanese mud”. Then again maybe he meant something else, maybe he never said it at all. point being dont be so critical cause of something you heard in the media.

  5. It has been that way for the last sixty years. As long as moshiach does not come and the medina hatemayah is still in existence, there is a threat of war every single day.

  6. Can everyone please just take the meassage – even if it isn’t true-is there anything wrong with getting scared and doing teshuva and daveining harder? do we need to see this carried out? We are being told of a possible war and instead of saying “Thank you I’ll start davening and working on myself”, we say “oh, it can’t be true! it makes no sense!” Can we listen to ourselves?

  7. Brisker, the threat of war has nothing to do with the existence of the state of Israel. Long before Zionism was even contemplated, Jews were suffering through the ages. Don’t blame the troubles of the jewish people on the state of Israel.

  8. to eli, I do not believe israel is the sole cause of our problems in todays day and age, but there is no denying that it lends a hand, end of story.

  9. > “The Golf war was in the winter.” (Gruntig @ comment 17)

    >> Most golf courses (at least in the north) are closed during the winter. And even in the spring, I’ve never seen anyone fighting over the first tee.

Rav Chaim Kanievsky: We are Near the End
    Wednesday July 21, 2010 10:48 AM – 22 Comments
This past week, as usual, a large number of people gathered at the home of Rav Chaim Kanievsky on Rechov Rashbam in Bnei Brak to seek his advice and bracha. One of the people, a public figure who heads a chessed organization, related to Rav Chaim the serious financial troubles his organization faces, in addition to the many other tzaros he witnesses, including the countless people who are ill.

As Rav Chaim was issuing a bracha to the man for the cholim whom he assists, the man turned to Rav Chaim and asked, “How does the Rov explain the troubles that Klal Yisroel is facing? For many years I have been involved in chessed activities and never do I remember a time during which Yidden have been plagued with such troubles. How do we explain this?”

All those present turned to Rav Chaim.

“It is well known,” said Rav Chaim, “that during the generation of Moshiach, Hakadosh Boruch Hu will clean out the generation of its aveiros and leave us clean in order to greet Moshiach. How does he clean us of our aveiros? With tzaros. That is the reason.”
One of the people in the room asked Rav Chaim, “But Rebbe, until when?”

Rav Kanievsky closed his eyes and told those assembled, “Believe me, we are already near the end. Really near the end.”
