Rav Avrohom Yaakov Zelaznik zt”l

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Avrohom Yaakov Zelaznik zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Eitz Chaim and member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Eretz Yisroel. He was 97.

Rav Zelaznik had been under the care of physicians at Bikur Cholim Medical Center in Yerushalayim when his condition deteriorated.

Rav Zelaznik was a son of Rav Shlomo Zalman Zelaznik zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Eitz Chaim, whom he succeeded as rosh yeshiva following his passing. He served on the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Eretz Yisroel for the last 40 years.

Rav Zelaznik was renowned as a gadol baTorah and possessed tremendous yedios haTorah and yiras Shomayim. His entire life was devoted to the learning and dissemination of Torah. He was a member of the Kehillas HaPrushim of the Yishuv Hayoshon.

Rav Zelaznik’s wife, Rebbetzin Itta, a daughter of Rav Yisroel Luria zt”l, passed away nine years ago.

The levaya was held earlier this evening at the home of Rav Zelaznik on Rechov Tachkemoni in Yerushalayim. Kevurah took place on Har Hazeisim.
