Rav Chaim Kanievsky: Daven for Rav Shteinman On Yom Kippur

Yesterday, a kinnus chizuk was held in the city of Modiin Illit ahead of Yom Kippur. Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman made a special trip from his home in Bnei Brak to address the gathering.

Also at the event was Rav Eliyahu Mann, close confidant of Rav Chaim Kanievsky and rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Ohr Yisroel. Rav Mann read a message from Rav Chaim, which stated: “It says in Sefer Chassidim that Hakadosh Boruch Hu watches over Am Yisroel, and until Moshiach comes, He will install gedolei Yisroel to lead the generation, and in this fashion Hakadosh Boruch Hu watches over Klal Yisroel. This is the meaning of the tefillah, ‘V’ruach kodshecha al tikach mimenu.’

The message from Rav Chaim continued: “The leader of the mesorah for Klal Yisroel today, in this dor yasom (orphaned generation) is Maran Rav Aharon Leib, may he be strong and be maarich yomim. On Yom Kippur, we daven Shema Koleinu [in Selichos]. I am asking the tzibbur to have in mind during the tefillah of ‘Al tashlicheinu milfonecha v’ruach kodshecha’ to daven for Maran rosh hayeshiva, Hagaon Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman shlit”a.

“May Hakadosh Boruch Hu strengthen him to be able to lead us until the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu.”
