rav-chaim-kanievskyThe Gemara (Avoda Zara 9a) says that the world will exist is for six thousand years. The first two thousand were empty before the Torah was given, the second two thousand are for Torah, and the last two thousand arefor Moshiach. The Gemara then says that Moshiach should have come, but we are wasting time because of our aveiros.

When did these two thousand years begin? They began 172 years after the Churban Bais HaMikdash. Rav Chaim Kanievsky says that we see a remez for this in Parshas Eikev. “Vehaya eikeiv tishmi’um.” The letters of Eikev have the numerical value of 172. The Torah tells us that if we listen to the Torah and do the mitzvos, all of Hashem’s goodness will be bestowed upon us 172 years after theChurban.

  1. Just a small thought
???? will come when we are ready lets stop waiting or wondering lets actually do something to help him come quicker
    ? ??? ???

  2. #2 asked “So when will Moshiach be here by?”

in yiddishkeit, if a person wants something (be it a livlihood, shidduch or child etc…) a person needs to do more then just daven & say tehillim, the person needs to also YEARN for it.-sadly- in today’s society we are living in, we are not YEARNING for the Bais Hamikdosh, we have everything from planes to cars & computers etc… even the gift of Shabbos for Gashmius to sleep & relax etc… HASHEM SAYS to klal yisroel, come back to me when your ready & ask me for something from your HEART & i will give you whatever you want (i’m sure if your child came to you for something you would get it, why wouldn’t you? the love between a parent & child is unlimited…. & that’s the way Hashem loves EACH & EVERY ONE OF US)

All of us have heard, read & seen tons of true stories of people who had their first child at 42 or had a sick child in critical condition, & then the doctor says i’m very sorry but your daughter has only 3 hours to live & then he comes back 2 hours later & says its really a miracle but your child is beginning to recover etc…. Why is it that they finally had a child & the child recovered? There could be tons of answers, but the most common answer Is a Pasuk we say 3 times a day in Davening. Hashem is close to all who call to him, to all who call out truthfully. (Tehillim 145)Because they cried out from their heart, they really meant what they were saying when they davened to H-shem to have a baby or for his daughter to recover etc…. there’s a reason we call Hashem, Avinu She’bashamayim (our father in heaven) Hashem loves us from a father to a son & is waiting to put his Shchina (presence) & his bais hamikdosh back in this world. If we really cried out for the Bais Hamikdosh from our heart with truth & show that we are missing it, then we wouldn’t still be in Golus today.

    May mashiach arrive very soon

  3. #2:

    Two possibilities:

    1. Be’ito: at a designated time only known to Hashem.

    2. Achishena: We all (all!) do teshuvah, in which case he will come immediately.

Sadly, with all the quarreling and strife in our camp of late, I fear that #1 will be the option.

Nevertheless, achakeh lo b’chol yom sheyavo.

  4. The Gemara in Megillah 17b-18a explains that the middle brachos of the Shemoneh Esrei are in chronological order (as determined by Chazal through Ruach HaKodesh). First comes Birchas HaShanim, which so many have observed has occurred in our generation. This is followed by Kibbutz Golius (“the ingathering of the exiles”) which picked up steam after 1948 and is occurring today with increasing strength (especially with the tremendous assistance of Nefesh b’Nefesh). But the important thing to note is that “Malchus Beis Dovid” (i.e. Moschiach) occurs AFTER both Kibbutz Golius AND Binyan Yerushalayim (i.e. the rebuilt 3rd Bais HaMikdash.

Therefore, it is just so annoying (since it is an excuse based on sheker) when Yidden in chutz l’Aretz claim that they don’t have to make aliyah until Moshiach comes. Kibbutz Golius comes WAY before Moshiach folks. As Rav Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld wrote many decades ago: “Many times have I directed that the religious Jews in the diaspora be instructed that anyone who has the ability to come to Eretz Yisrael and doesn’t, will have to account for his FAILURE in Haolam Haba.” [Ha’ish Al Hachoma, vol. II, p. 149]

So, as long as Bnei Torah insist on staying put in chutz l’Aretz and not fulfilling the bracha of Kibbutz Golius, we will never be zocheh to the bracha of Moshiach, who is waiting for Klal Yisrael to return home to greet him before he makes his appearance.

  5. #11 the excuse is based on ,taavah ,and kavod. moshiach will come regardless of them being here. just depending if they wanted to come, will determine if they’ll get to come.
