This morning, Rav Chaim Kanievsky, who infrequently leaves his home on Rechov Rashbam other than to daven in the nearby Lederman Shul, paid a visit this morning to Rav Eliezer Kahaneman, the nosi of the Ponovezh Yeshiva who recently underwent bypass surgery. Rav Kahaneman, affectionately known as Rav Leizer, is currently at Tel Hashomer Hospital and Rav Chaim visited him there to be mevaker choleh. The two discussed various matters before Rav Chaim departed.
Rav Kahaneman is a son of Rav Avrohom Kahaneman zt”l, former nosi of the Ponovezh Yeshiva, and a grandson of the Ponovezher Rov, Rav Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman zt”l.
Rav Kahaneman had been scheduled to visit the United States this coming week to attend the annual dinner for Yeshivas Ponovezh, but he will be unable to travel, and Rav Berel Povarsky, a rosh yeshiva at Ponovezh, will attend in his place.

I am unfamiliar with the term nosi to describe a rosh yeshiva since the time of the mishnah. Am I Choni Hamagel, or is everyone else?
He was Yoresh that title. A Nosi today is an exec. director- in Lakewood they call it the CEO.
“who infrequently leaves his home on Rechov Rashbam …paid a visit this morning to Rav Eliezer Kahaneman,…who recently underwent bypass surgery.
I suppose you expected Rav Kahanemann to jump out of bed and visit Rav Kaniefsky. It is traditional among Jews for the well to visit the sick and not vice versa. So what is the big deal here, that Rav Chaim was mevaker cholim?
Rav Kahanamann is Maran’s nephew
Can anyone tell me if this is the same Eliezer Kahaneman who attended the Hebrew Institute of Long Island and was in the grade school graduating class of 1960?
I think that is him. I guess he won’t be attending our 50th reunion!! Hope to see you there!
