Several people recently told Rav Chaim Kanievsky that they saw a rainbow. Rav Chaim responded, “Why did you tell me? The Mishna Berurah clearly quotes from the Chayei Adam that one should not tell his friend that he saw a rainbow [because he is ‘motzah dibah kesil].’”
The questioner replied, “It has been a while since I saw it.”
Rav Chaim was not satisfied with the response, maintaining that one should not share that he experienced such a sighting.
As regards the brachah said upon seeing a rainbow, Rav Chaim ruled that the brachah is recited even if one only saw a portion of the rainbow. But it is not recited if it is seen in water or a mirror.”
Another interesting p’sak: Anyone who sees a rainbow and did not make a brachah, as long as the rainbow can be seen, he may make the brachah. If one saw the rainbow and it was then covered by clouds, and a few hours later the sky clears, one should make the brachah again, even the same day.

We drove to the Niagra Fallls so that we can make the Brocho.
But it is not recited if it is seen in water or a mirror.
What does motza Dibah Kesil mean?
Saying a foolish slander. The Pisgah Foundation translation of the MB gives a remark that a fully righteous generation does not
require the sign of the rainbow.
That doesn’t qualify. Can I make a bracha on a chandelier?

#1- why did you tell us. Didn’t you just read you’re not supposed to say that you saw one…..Btw just kidding! !!!
are you kidding me?! didn’t MATZAV just post pictures if a rainbow?! (January 10)
I thought he meant he hadn’t seen the MB in a while…
the fellow who told Reb Chaim was probably hoping he would say Moshiach is coming or something like that
Its supposed to be a reminder of those who see it to do teshuva….
