It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Eliyahu Dovid Reichman zt”l, rosh kollel Imrei Yosef. He was 90.

Rav Eliyahu Dovid was born in Yerushalayim in 1932 to his parents, Reb Moshe Yehuda  and Sara Nechama Reichman. His father was a rebbi at Yeshiva Toras Emes in Yerushalayim for forty years.

Rav Eliyahu Dovid learned at the Slabodka Yeshiva in Bnei Brak and became close to the Steipler Gain and to Maran Rav Elazar Menachem Man Shach.

He married his wife, Malka, the eldest daughter of the Maggid, Rav Shalom Mordechai Schwadron. After their wedding, they lived in Bnei Brak and Rav Eliyahu Dovid learned at Kollel Chazon Ish together with Rav Chaim Kanievsky.

On the advice of Rav Shach, he eventually moved to the southern city of Kiryat Gat, where he opened a yeshiva and kehillah. At an older age, he moved to Chile, where he served as rov and greatly strengthened the residents of the Jewish community.

He eventually moved to the Neve Ya’akov neighborhood in Yerushalayim, where he was one of the senior rabbonim of the neighborhood, and served as the rosh kollel of the Imri Yosef kollel in Bnei Brak.

Rav Eliyahu Dovid wrote a number of acclaimed seforim. All his days, he was immersed in Torah and nothing else.

He leaves behind an outstanding family.

The levayah was held at his home in the Neve Ya’akov neighborhood in Yerushalayim, followed by kevurah on Har Hazeisim.

Yehi zichro boruch.
