Rav Eliyahu Yitzchok Abba-Shaul zt”l

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Eliyahu Yitzchok Abba-Shaul zt”l, rov of Kedar and head of Gush Etzion Kashrus supervision. He was 55.

Ichud Hatzolah was called to Rav Abba’Shaul’s home in Ramat Shlomo, Yerushalayim, last night after he fell unconscious. Medics performed CPR, but he passed away.

Rav Abba-Shaul was born on Tzom Gedaliah תשכ”ב in Yerushalayim, the oldest son of his father, Rav Yaakov Chai Abba-Shaul, who was a brother of Rav Bentzion Abba-Shaul, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivat Porat Yosef.

Rav Eliyahu Yitzchok wasa devoted rov and was considered a great expert in kashrus, a talmid chochom, and a noted baal chesed.

The levaya was held this morning at Bais Medrash Darkei Horaah L’Rabbonim on Rechov Rav Moshe Eliyahu Reines in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood of Yerushalayim, followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos.
