It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Ephraim Zalmen Steinwurtzel zt”l, longtime rebbi at Yeshiva Torah Temimah in Brooklyn.

Rabbi Steinwurtzel was a fourth-grade rebbi at Torah Temimah for nearly four decades. He fell ill after Pesach, returned to the classroom with great mesirus nefesh in September, but was unable to keep teaching after Yom Tov.

Rabbi Steinwurtzel was a son of Rav Moshe Dovid Steinwurzel zt”l, rov of Beis Ephraim Fof latbush and rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Etz Chaim of Bobov.

He was a son-in-law of Rav Dovid Spiegel, Ostrov-Kalushiner Rebbe of Cedarhurst.

Rabbi Steinwurtzel left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of generations of talmidim who had the privilege of learning from him. His dedication to chinuch and harbotzas haTorah made him a beloved rebbi to so many.

A resident of Boro Park, Rabbi Steinwurtzel’s impact extended beyond the classroom, touching the lives of talmidim and their families with his warmth, compassion, and genuine care. His commitment to nurturing not only the intellectual but also the middos development of his talmidim earned him the deep respect and admiration of the entire Yeshiva Torah Temimah family – the hanhalah, the parents, and the students.

Rabbi Steinwurtzel fostered a love for learning and a profound connection to Yiddishkeit and mesorah. His legacy lives on through the generations of talmidim who were enriched by his chochmah and hadracha.

Rabbi Steinwurtzel is survived by his devoted rebbetzin, Mrs. Shoshie (Spiegel) Steinwurtzel and their wonderful family.

The levayah will be held tonight at 9 p.m. at the Lelover Bais Medrash, located at 1830 50th Street in Boro Park. There will not be any hespeidim. Kevurah will take place at the Rachmastrivke Chelka in Monsey.

Rebbetzin Steinwurtzel and her children will be sitting shivah at 1091 East 4th Street until Wednesday morning. Rav Steinwurtzel’s siblings will be sitting shivah at Kahal Beis Ephraim, located at 2802 Avenue J in Flatbush.

Yehi zichro boruch.
