Yes, we deserved the Midath Ha-Din. We have many Frum people who are fake with their Yiddishkeit. Also, I heard it is said in a Midrash somewhere: “Once every 60 or 70 years, HKB”H brings a great epidemic upon the world and destroys the mamzerim from [Yisroel]. He takes pure persons with them, so as not to publicize the sinners.”. It is something we have to accept. Klal Yisrael outlived the Antonine Plague, Black Plague, Tubercolosis, Cholera, Spanish Flu, and Polio. We can outlive the Corona Virus!
Before you blame mamzerim, let kosher yidden do tshuva.
That’s easier to figure out and closer to the truth.
In fact, that’s not an esoteric midrash.
It’s all over Torah bichsav and peh.
