Rav Gershon Edelstein, rosh yeshiva at Yeshivas Ponovezh in Bnei Brak, who was hospitalized last week after his blood pressure rose alarmingly and he felt unwell, underwent a catheterization procedure prior to Shabbos and is said to be doing well. He had transported in the middle of last week from his home at 19 Rechov Raavad in Bnei Brak to the Sheba-Tel Hashomer Medical Center, where the cardiac procedure was performed at 9:15 Friday morning.
After 40 minutes, Dr. Har Zahav emerged from the surgery room and declared the procedure a success, boruch Hashem.
Rav Shmuel Wosner, Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman and Rav Chaim Kanievsky asked the greater Olam Hatorah to daven for a refuah sheleimah for Rav Edelstein. Rav Chaim referred to Rav Edelstein as the “amud haTorah of the generation.”
All are asked to daven for Rav Yerachmiel Gershon ben Miriam.
Interestingly, Rav Edelstein told the Hatzolah volunteers who took him to the hospital that he has rarely, if ever, been in the hospital, as he has generally been healthy, boruch Hashem.
