Rav Nissim Karelitz’s beis din held a session to probe persistent rumors that a mysterious child-snatching cult is operating in Bnei Brak’s Mishkenot Yaakov neighborhood. Similar rumors spooked two Yerushalayim neighborhoods in the past few years.

After listening to ten witnesses, some who supported the notion and some who disputed it, Dayan Yaakov Silman and his panel issued a written decision that although isolated incidents had occurred, which should be reported to the police, there was no evidence of an organized cult.

“This story was not born in the Mishkenos Yaakov neighborhood,” Dayan Silman said.

“It already happened five times beginning with Yerushalayim’s Nachla’ot neighborhood.”

  1. Please give us a little more information. This is very poor journalism. There is nothing in the article that explains who (leader / members / has hashkofos of this group), what (have they done for some to say they are a cult), where (which neighborhoods of Bnei Brak), why (the psak, even though there was some fishy stuff going on) and when.

If you don’t want to give some basic information, don’t give us a half baked headline.
