It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Kolman Krohn zt”l. He was 71 years old.
Rav Kolman battled illness for the last period, enduring immense yissurim with fortitude and bitachon.
Rav Kalman was a tzaddik who devoted his life to Torah and avodas Hashem. Much of the chesed he performed was conducted under the radar, as he raised money for those in need without fanfare.
Rav Kolman was a powerful mashpiah, whose shmuessen and shiurim were compelling and penetrating, moving his listeners to raise their level of avodas Hashem, avodas hamiddos and limud haTorah.
Rav Kolman delivered a weekly vaad to yungeleit and bochurim, imbuing in them pure hashkafah and imparting life lessons that remained with them for years after.
For decades, Rav Kolman delivered a multi-hour shiur at Bais Medrash Govoah on the night of Shavuos to hundreds of youth. For 5 hours straight, first in the dining room of Bais Medrash Govoah and later in Bais Medrash Ateres Brocha, Rav Kolman kept the youth enraptured with chiddushim, vertlach, stories and insights, also drawing older, seasoned talmidei chachomim and yungeleit, who wished to drink from his wellsprings of knowledge and overflowing yiras Shomayim.
The passing of Rav Kolman leaves a gaping void in the hearts of Lakewood residents and those beyond who were inspired and touched by Rav Kolman’s purity, his love of Hashem and his Torah, and his boundless ahavah for other Yidden.
Rav Kolman is survived by his rebbetzin, Mrs. Naomi Krohn, and their wonderful family. His siblings are Rav Paysach Krohn, Rav Aryeh Krohn, Rebbetzin Leah Dolinger (Ashdod), Rebbetzin Yitty Gutman (Lakewood), Mrs. Tamar Abraham (Lakewood) and Mrs. Esty Sofer (Far Rockaway).
The levaya will take place on Sunday morning at the Bais Medrash Govoha Bendheim (Yoshon) Bais Medrash at 9 a.m. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.

Yaakov Yisroel Kalman Krohn. The name Yaakov was added a week and a half ago, per Rav Chaim Kanievsky.
Is this tha same Kalman Krohn who used to be the greatest story teller in camp agudah back in the late 1970’s maybe early 1980’s?
He used to tell great stories & medrashim all about sheidim etc. On Tisha Bav everyone gathered together on the bleachers to hear him tell over the story of the churban bayis.

I remember him weaving his magical stories on shabbos in Camp Agudah in 1967!
Oy.It is difficult for me to come to terms with the death of such a tzadik. I wasn’t zoiche to have known him well. My primary personal connection to him was when he would call me collecting for his Tzedoka fund.
Even so, I cry upon his p’tira.
Every time he would call whether I would give or whether I would not he would leave me feeling so wonderful that he was the only collector that I looked forward to his calls. Even at times when I didn’t have the money to give.
His handwritten thank you notes he would send me even when I gave him small amounts were so touching that I saved all of them just for the chizuk they gave.
And that is just a tiny piece of his Tzidkus.
May he be a Melitz Yosher for all of us.

If you do have any respect and sadness at his passing as you claim, maybe you’ll honor his name by shutting down this portal
So please i beg of you heed this warning and do תשובה before it is too late, in the honor of this great אוהב ה’ ותורתו and please help his quest to be מבער הרע מן העולם and be מקדש שם שמים and maybe that will somehow help you do teshuva from the great churban you have caused
A major indication of Rav Khron’s gadlus and tzidkus is the fact that even someone like me who is so removed from his haskafa and way of life can still cry over his death.
However, if you truly believe what you wrote it should be your last post and visit to Matzav.

I belive it is rav Pesach krohns brother.
I remember him from Camp Agudah, 1968. He was already then a great Mashpia, a very lively, engaging speaker, a unique personality. At a young age he had had a wide range of yidios. I recall him teaching a large group of boys (“large” relative to the times)-who would flock to his shiurim voluntarily-how a Kohain is makriv a Korban Mincha-among other things. At the time he was a Talmid of the Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn, learning by Rav Shmuel Brudny z”l. He would tell us about his relationship with Rav Shalom Shvadron z”l and relate stories, anecdotes and sayings of this famous Maggid, who was a guest of the Krohn family for lengthy periods of time. I had met him many years later and he remembered me, although I was not in his bunk. Indeed, he had an Ahava for everyone he met. When I told him of the Hashpah he had on so many of us in those years, he responded with a self-deprecating remark, indicating his humility.

He used to walk daily, and as he passed children waiting for their school buses, he would ask “What’s the most important Mitzva?” and they knew to reply – “V’talmud Torah K’neged Kulam!!”. I remember it like yesterday, and it was about 30 years ago. The inspiration is still with me to this day. What a terrible loss for Lakewood and Klal Yisroel, YNTBH.
In Camp Agudah he taught the children all 613 mitvos & which # it was. He had a way to make the children remember all 613 mitvos on the knuckles
He is literally one- of- a-kind. As the ROsh Yeshiva said, we only saw the small tip of the iceberg. As his family spoke, we got to see a drop of what used to be covered. I hope a book comes out about even more of the iceberg.
