Israeli Chief Rabbi Rav Dovid Lau is reportedly boycotting the new conversion chief appointed by Minister of Religious Affairs Matan Kahana, and is refusing to meet him.
Rav Lau implicitly trusted former conversion director Rav Moshe Waller, who was pushed out by Kahana in favor of Rav Benayohu Brunner of the Tzohar Organization.
Reportedly, Rav Lau is having all conversion files scrutinized at his office before giving them his stamp of approval.
