rav-matisyahuOn Sunday, at what was the largest Hachnosas Sefer Torah event in the history of the Ihr HaTorah of Lakewood, some 6-7,000 men, women and children took part, together with the roshei yeshiva and mashgiach of Beth Medrash Govoha, as well as rabbonim and poskim from throughout the town, for the pesichah of the Kleinman Family Campus of BMG and a Hachnosas Sefer Torah dedicated by the Kleinman family.

Following the Hachnosas Sefer Torah, guests gathered for a seudas mitzvah in a tent behind the new Forest Avenue-Eleventh Street bais medrash. At the seudah, the crowd was addressed by several speakers, including the mashgiach of Beth Medrash Govoha, Rav Matisyahu Salomon, whose remarks have been quoted (and misquoted) and have been making the rounds in frum circles.

In his speech, Rav Matisyahu spoke about a dream that he had this past summer. The mashgiach‘s rebbetzin was very ill at the time, and he dreamt that the rosh yeshiva, Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l, appeared to him, looking exactly the way he remembered him from when he saw the rosh yeshiva as a bochur in Gateshead Yeshiva. The rosh yeshiva told him that if he’s mekabel to remain in Lakewood, then his rebbetzin will have a refuah sheleimah and both he and his rebbetzin will merit to greet Moshiach. He was mekabel that, and the rebbetzin has been zocheh to a miraculous recovery.

The mashgiach commented that we’re living in Moshiach‘s times and it’s incumbent upon every person to realize that.

  1. The way I heard it from many different sources was that Rav Aron said that if rav Matisahu is mekabel to remain in Lakewood until Moshiach comes, then his wife will have a recovery.

  2. So much for the story reported earlier today on Matzav.com (at 11:06 AM) re: Lakewood’s “Smart Growth Plan,” which predicts an increase in Lakewood’s population “to a mind-boggling 230,000 by 2030.”

Rav Matisyahu’s dream bolsters my comment there that only a person who has no emunah in the imminence of the geula reckons that they’ll still be in their Lakewood golus 20 years from now. G-d willing, the rest of us will be long gone…back to Eretz Yisrael.

  3. I dont get,

This speech was given in front of thousands of people~

How can it be so misquoted.

There were pcitures and videos of this event here on Matzav.

    Wasnt this speech taped??

Cant we hear the real thing?

    Abe

  4. I think everyone is misinterpreting the story, the Mashgiach said this in front of a large audience, and he NEVER said that Reb ahron promised him that he’ll greet moshiach,he merely stated that Rav ahron told him that if he’s mekabel to remain until moshiach,(which can mean if he accepts the position forever.)then his wife will have a refuah, but not that he’ll be zocheh to see moshiach that is completely false.

  5. #13: My brother in law is a rosh chaburah and was there. I heard from him that Rav Matisyahu was saying tehilim for the Rebbetzin and dozed off. Rav Ahron Kotler z’l told him his wife will recover and greet Moshiach (I assume he included R’ Matisyahu too) if they stay in Lakewood, and then he said, “And we’re not exactly young people” (meaning that Moshiach would come soon during their lifetimes.)

  6. It’s like the game telephone- even people that were there heard different things.
If Matzav could offer a tape- probably the Kleinmans would have a way to offer it here, then we could hear it for ourselves.

  7. i’ll bet hashem yisborach would be even happier if r’ solomon moved the ir hatorah to the eretz hakodesh…theres plenty of room in eretz yisroel for 7000 people and more!

  8. #17 Being a rosh chaburah doesnt make your story more accurate, and while you only heard it from one,I heard from several differently. The moshgiach even repeated the story to rav elya ber, to which he responded that after moshiach comes he can come be Mashgiach in Fallsburg! Which would only make sense according to my version of the story!

  9. I heard from the mashgiach himself that dreams today have no practical meaning and they reflect more on what we want, than what hashem wants…

Can any one enlighten me on why he might have had a change of heart.

  10. #21, 22: Depends what and WHO drempt (we still say the yehi rotzon. and the Mashgiach never suggested not following the relevent halochos of dreams

  11. Am I missing something?? Was the mashgiach shlita considering to leave lakewood that he needed Rav Aron zatzal to persuade him otherwise?

  12. for all those who don’t believe it
can’t we just say AMEN and hope its true, and for the slight chanse that it is true…. we better do tshuvah before Moshiach comes…..

  13. All Jews come along for the upward ride of Moshiach as he rises in power, because everyone is doing mitzvos whether they realize it or not.

  14. This site is, Baruch Hashem, well respected and is viewed by many viewers. As a result we have tremendous responsibilities to the olam. We cannot simply post every comment that is sent to us. If we did so, we would end up posting all sorts of comments some that could even lead people astray. Sometimes we have people who are manic, or who have schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or some other psychotic disorder sharing their posts with us. Often their comments are attempts to “shake the world” into believing what they experience to be reality, which sometimes even challenges our current belief systems. These comments are sometimes even highly intelligent, which is all the more reason why we have to censor them. People could be seriously led astray.

  15. my Rebbe told me that it’s on youtube, so if any of us here don’t have filters on our computers then someone can find out if it’s true…

  16. I also saw a caption about it in one of the Mishpacha magazines, complete with the mashgiach stating they’re not young.

Also, years ago there was a writeup on the Aish.com site, which was soon therafter deleted from it. As follows:

the zohar (toldot 139a) says that in advance of the 210 years of the resurrection of the dead, there’s a 40 year period of kibbutz galiot, literally the ingathering of the exiles. As the name implies, it’s the period during which all remaining Jews will be brought back to the Land of Israel. As the number implies, it corresponds to the 40 years the Jewish people wandered in the desert.

In other words, the end of Jewish history perfectly mirrors the beginning of Jewish history in the time of Moses.

    …etc. etc…

This period wil have 2 phases. Pre Moshiach & Post Moshiach. During the pre moshiach period, history will still be subject to hidden Divine Providence. There will be limited aliya, but many situations will force jews around the world to reconcile their feelings re: the Land of Israel & redemption.

    etc. etc.

..during that phase… a winnowing process could be in full swing. Some jews may feel yearning to live in Israel, wh4ether they will get there or not. Others may feel disenchanted and neutral to the idea of living on the land.

at that time the importance of one’s feelings & attachment to Israel may be virtually unnoticable to most people. etc. etc. etc.

Phase One within this 40 year period of ingathering, will come to a conclusion just before & during the arrival of Moshiach bend Dovid. Having come to save the Jewish people from the cataclysmic war of Gog & Magog (if that’s the path history takes), and to rid the world of evil, the reality of God, the priority of Torah, and the centrality of the Land of Israel will become eminently clear.

No doubt, everything takes place according to a predestined SCRIPT (similar to a computer program, or DVD tracks), and in fact:

I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT YAIR WEINSTOCK’S LATEST (OR FORTHCOMING) BOOK IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT THE ABOVE THEME – ANOTHER TWIST ON NEUBERGER’S 2020 VISION NOVEL.
As if the timing of such books may be synchronized to the ??very?? imminent world change.
