[Video below.] Rav Mayer Twersky, noted R”M at RIETS, delivered an enlightening drasha this past week on “Mesorah and Change: Women Rabbis, Parnassah, Tznius.” The shiur took place at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun in Teaneck, NJ.

B:H Rav Twersky shlit”a put those feminists in their place — outside Judaism.
I applaud the Rov for making clear that women have no place doing a man’s job in Judaism, or wearing the pants in the house.
I was also at the shiur. Regarding your second point, although he gave Rav Chaim Kanievsky as an example of “baalei hamesorah”, his main point – that no baalei hamesorah have given even the slightest hint of support for women rabbis – equally applies to the YU gedolim – Rav Hershel Schachter, Rav Aharon Lichtestsein – and every other substantial talmid chacham in the YU world – not one of them supports women rabbis.
Regarding your first point, although he did not go into detail about why the serara/authority issue applies today even though in the surrounding culture women do assume positions of authority, he was clearly taking for granted that women being in a religious position of authority is a problem. Would he say that about a secular position (e.g. – an exec in a business)? Can’t prove definitively one way or another from the shiur.
Is there on line a written copy of the drosha?
great shiur on a complicated topic because in reality life can be complicate:)
