Rav Mazuz On “Worse Than Nazis”: I Was Misunderstood

The head of Yeshiva Shaarei Rachamim, Rav Meir Mazuz, last night clarified the harsh words he said the night before against Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

In his clarification, he said that his words were taken out of context. “On Motzoei Shabbos, I said something that shocked everyone in the country. I was not understood. They took things out of context. Are we being treated like Nazis? They do not act like Nazis; on the contrary. The Six Day War message was that Israel must unite. Hate the deed, not the person.”

The Rosh Yeshiva had sharply attacked Ministers Lieberman and Lapid against the background of the new decrees they plan to impose on Torah students and the families of the students.

Lapid responded: “Rabbi Mazuz, the Nazis murdered my grandfather in a concentration camp, and they tried to murder my father in the ghetto. My only answer to your words is that I love all the people of Israel and wish Rabbi Mazuz a happy Jerusalem Day, a day of unity and love for Israel.”

Avigdor Lieberman tweeted on his Twitter account: “Instead of core studies, Rabbi Mazuz chooses to teach hate studies. I did not know that core studies, going to work and military service are worse than the Nazis.”

  1. I do not know of any Jew who can legitimately be called “Worse than the Nazis (ym”s)”.
What I do know is that Avigdor Lieberman’s flaming hatred of anything and everyone frum is shocking, horrifying, and beyond comprehension.

  2. In pirkie avot it says you have to be clear when conveying information.
    The results will be:
Yeshivas will be defunded. Poverty will increase. Hate will ensue.
    Until the next election.
My original suggestion is we learn shimirit haloshoon by the C . Hyim everyday.

    • Or his words were actually taken out of context.
I wouldn’t know, because I didn’t pay attention to the whole saga, but I am trolling the comments section
