It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Moshe Menachem Tirnauer zt”l, dayan of Khal Yetav Lev-Satmar in Montreal, Canada and rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Toras Moshe. He was 74.
Rav Moshe Menachem was a son of Rav Moshe Menachem Tirnauer, who died prior to the birth of his son. Rav Moshe Menachem was thus named after his father.
As a youth, Rav Moshe Menachem was recognized as a diligent student, growing and thriving in his learning. As a young talmid chochom, he became a talmid of the Satmar Rov, Rav Yoel, and a talmid of Rav Avraham Leitner, rov of Montevideo.
He ultimately went to Montreal on a mission of the Satmar Rov in 1973 after the petirah of Rav Schwartz.
Rav Moshe Menachem was very close to the Berach Moshe of Satmar and later Rav Zalman Leib Teitelbaum of Satmar, and was one of the leaders of the chinuch institutions in Kiryas Yoel.
At many large gatherings of Satmar, Rav Moshe Menachem was called on to deliver divrei hisorerus, imparting the hashkafah of the chassidus with clarity.
