Rav Moshe Twersky Hy”d

Rav Moshe Twersky Hy”d, killed in today’s attack, was the 59-year-old rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva Toras Moshe in Sanhedriah Murchevet in Yerushalayim and a prominent resident of Har Nof. He lived near the Bnei Torah shul where the attack took place.

Rav Moshe was born in the United States. He was the eldest son of Rabbi Yitzchok (Isadore) Twersky of Boston. His mother, Mrs. Atara Twersky, was a daughter of Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Rabbeinu Yitzchok Elchonon.

Rav Moshe’s wife, Mrs. Basha Miriam Twersky, is a daughter of Rav Abba Berman zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Iyun Hatalmud of Yerushalayim.

Mrs. Twersky teaches at the Hadar seminary for girls in Yerushalayim, which is run by her sister, Mrs. Orenstein.

Rav Moshe released the Sefer Pischei Shearim from Rav Yisroel Elya Weintraub and was known as a remarkable talmid chochom and yirei Shomayim.

Rav Moshe was a gaon in middos, a true gadol baTorah uveyirah.

He is survived by his wife and five children.

Rav Moshe’s levaya is taking place at the Givat Shaul bais hachaim in Yerushalayim, with about 3,500 people in attendance.
