It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Nosson Kamenetzky zt”l over Shabbos at his home in the Sorotzkin neighborhood of Yerushalayim.
Rav Nosson was hospitalized several times in the past few months.
Rav Nosson was born 89 years ago in Lithuania to his parents, Rav and Rebbetzin Yaakov Kamenetzky. He later moved with his family to Brooklyn, New York, where he studied at Yeshiva Torah Vodaas and Yeshiva Bais Hatalmud.
At the age of 40, Rav Nosson made aliyah and was one of the founders of the Itri Yeshiva in Yerushalayim until his retirement 20 years ago.
Rav Nosson was a brilliant talmid chochom, with wide-ranging yedios haTorah. He was a kindhearted and compassionate Torah leader who impacted and guided many people.
Rav Nosson is pictured below with his three brothers, Rav Binyomin zt”l, Rav Avrohom zt”l, and ybl”c Rav Shmuel, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Philadelphia.
The levayah took place at 11:30 p.m. on Motzoei Yom Tov in Yerushalayim, followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos.
Yehi zichro boruch.
