It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the sudden petirah of Rav Pinchos Algerbeli zt”l, mashgiach of Yeshiva Me’or HaTorah. He was 58.
Rav Pinchos went for bein hazemanim with his family to France and passed away there. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Rav Pinchos was a special and unique person, loved by everyone and a noted talmid chochom.
In his youth, he learned at Yeshiva Kol Torah in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood in Yerushalayim.
His wife is a daughter of Rav Shimon Weizman, Rosh Yeshivas Eishel.
Over the years, he was appointed to serve as the mashgiach at Kol Torah for bochurim from chutz laaretz and later, as mentioned, as mashgiach at Maor HaTorah, headed by Rav Avraham Salim.
In recent weeks, he felt very weak. After he collapsed, it was discovered that he had a very large tumor in his brain.
The levayah was held last night in France and his kevurah is set to take place in Eretz Yisroel this evening.
