It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Shimon Kaplan zt”l of Monsey, NY.
Rav Shimon was a son of the legendary Torah pioneers of the last century and the founders of Bais Yaakov of Williamburg, Rav Boruch and Rebbetzin Vichan Kaplan zt”l.
He is survived by his siblings, Rav Binyomin Ephraim Kaplan, Rav Yehoshua Kaplan, Rav Yisroel Yaakov Kaplan, Rav Elchanan Kaplan, Rav Yitzchok Kaplan, Rav Nechemia Kaplan, Mrs. Miriam Edelman, Mrs. Matti Sher, and Rebbetzin Fruma Kirzner, and his children, R’ Ephraim Yehoshua Kaplan, R’ Nechemia Kaplan, R’ Dovid Kaplan, R’ Yitzchok Meir Kaplan, R’ Akiva Kaplan, R’ Ben Kaplan, Mrs. Zissy Jacobs, Sarah Kaplan, and Nechama V. Kaplan.
Rav Shimon was predeceased by his brothers, Rav Dovid Kaplan, Rav Avremel Kaplan, and Rav Chaim Kaplan.
Shivah is taking place at 21 Ellish Parkway, between Fanley Avenue and Ellish Parkway, in Monsey. Some of the brothers will be sitting at 21 Ellish Parkway until Tuesday morning, and will then be at 1850 52nd Street in Boro Park, Brooklyn, starting on Tuesday at midday. The family will be getting up from shivah on Friday.
