rav-shmuel-kamenetsky-2Today, the writing of a Sefer Torah in memory of Rebbetzin Laya German a”h will take place in Flatbush. The event, which will benefit the children of Be’er Hagolah Institutes, will take place at the home of Rabbi and Mrs. Mordechai Hirtenfeld, 420 East 9th Street in Flatbush from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., the gathering will be graced with the presence of Harav Shmuel Kamenetsky, Rosh Yeshiva of the Yeshiva of Philadelphia.

Be’er Hagolah was founded in 1979 at the behest of gedolim including Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky, Rav Schneur Kotler and Rav Avrohom Pam.  Be’er Hagolah’s trailblazing work in the world of kiruv for our brethren who hail from the former Soviet Union is legendary. Many Be’er Hagolah alumni today learn in some of the best yeshivos and Bais Yaakovs. Some are even repaying the community by becoming teachers of the next generation of Russian children.

The mechanchim and mechanchos of Be’er Hagolah are teachers who are on the frontlines in a historic mission to restore Yiddishkeit to Russian children, thereby returning the crown of glory to Russian Jewry after it had been robbed from them by 70 years of Communist indoctrination of kefirah.

Rebbetzin Laya German a”h was a vital part of Be’er Hagolah’s efforts, and her legacy is carried on today by her husband, Rav Avner German, the menahel Rav German understands that each child must be educated as an individual on his own level. Be’er Hagolah knows that each student comes from a different background and requires individualized, tailor-made chinuch according to each child’s level.
