Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman has called for chizuk in limud haTorah in light of the many challenges facing the Torah world today, particularly in Eretz Yisroel.
At Rav Shteinman’s yeshiva, Orchos Torah, in Bnei Brak, Rav Shteinman has called for five consecutive days of uninterrupted Torah learning.
Rav Shteinman asked his close talmid and right-hand, Rav Moshe Yehuda Schneider, to write a letter in his name stating that “in order to delay the recent edicts and gezeiros, there should be a chizuk in learning, with study shifts continuously for five days. Perhaps, in this way, our cries will be heard, we will merit rachamim, and the decrees will be abolished.”
The directive from Rav Shteinman came a few days after the government approved the law requiring the drafting of bnei yeshiva. Rav Shteinman has said that he is extremely concerned about the future of Klal Yisroel.
It should be noted that the non-stop learning shifts at Orchos Torah will be taking place even during the regular times of davening, and those learning then will participate in special minyanim at other times.
