Rav Wosner Visits Chacham Ovadiah Yosef

Rav Shmuel Halevi Wosner, author of Shu”t Shevet Halevi and rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin, paid a visit to Chacham Ovadiah Yosef today at his home in Har Nof, Yerushalayim.

The visit was a rare one because Rav Wosner rarely leaves his home in Bnei Brak, and even less frequently travels to Yerushalayim.

The meeting took place following the recent controversy over IDF conversions and specifically a letter written against Chacham Oavdiah containing the forged signature of Rav Wosner.

Throughout the 20-minute visit, the two gedolim discussed matters of halacha, and specifically geirus, and the two gedolim gave each other their recently released seforim.

Rav Yosef gave Rav Wosner his sefer Chazon Ovadiah on hilchos Shabbos, and Rav Wosner gave Rav Ovadiah a sefer he recently authored.

At the conclusion of the visit, Rav Wosner asked Rav Ovadiah for his mother’s name so that he can daven for him.

As we reported here on Matzav.com, two weeks ago, Rav Wosner called Rav Avraham Yosef, rov of Cholon and son of Rav Ovadiah, and related that while he did indeed wish to sign against the conversions under questions, he was not aware that his signature was placed on a letter directed at Chacham Ovadiah.”

“If I knew it, I would not have signed,” said Rav Wosner.
