It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Yaakov Halevi Lipschutz zt”l. He was 86 years old and passed away at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim.
Rav Lipschutz was born in the United States on the 4th of Shevet 5694 to his parents, Rav Dovid and Devorah Lipschutz.
Rav Lipschutz learned at Yeshiva Torah Vodaas in Brooklyn and at Bais Medrash Elyon in Monsey.
He then married his wife, Esther Fruchter, a daughter of Rav Avrohom Fruchter.
Rav Lipschutz was a noted talmid chochom and published the seforim Sanhedrei Gedolah containing the writings of Rishonim on Shas.
Rav Lipschutz was a descendant of his namesake, Rav Yaakov Halevi Lipschutz, secretary of the gadol hador, Rav Yitzchok Elchonon Spector.
He leaves behind a wonderful family, including his son, Rav Avrohom Lipschutz, rov of Kfar Gideon.
The levayah will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Shamgar Funeral Home in Yerushalayim, followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos.
