Frum Yidden should prefer shopping in businesses owned by religious Jews, rather than by secular or non-Jewish owners, Rav Yaakov Yosef, son of Chacham Ovadiah Yosef, has said. Rav Yosef became the subject of a police investigation several months ago after he issued a halachic ruling saying Jews must refrain from employing Arabs. This week, Rav Yosef published a statement in the Artzeinu Yisroel journal stating, “If we have before us two stores – one owned by a Jew and the other by a non-Jew (or a Jew who behaves like a non-Jew) – it is our duty to buy from the G-d-fearing Jew.” Rav Yosef added that “the aforementioned ruling pertains not only to shopping in a store, but should also be implemented when renovating the house or moving. One must prefer to employ religious workers.”
However, Rav Yosef noted that according to one halachic view, it is permitted to shop at a secular or non-Jewish-owned business if the price difference between the latter and the religious competition is greater than 16.6%.

Quite frankly I hate shopping by frum Jews. They typically are rude and obnoxious. Their prices are usually inflated compared to department stores and the over all experience is not pleasent. Why is there an obligation to buy from the frum when they are not competetive enough? Why is it, when I frequent stores in Brooklyn the employees are usually very impatient and rude? Dont tell me that if more people shop there, the prices will drop. Thats baloney. There are stores raking it in, yet the prices are sky high. If a Rov is going to pasken that one should buy from the frum, that Rov should pay the difference in price. Until then I will continue to buy at the stores where they have the best pricing and service
If everybody did this we could rid the land of frei people once and for all. Let’s hope!

This is common sense! Of course we dont want to support the apikorses yidden. We want our kind to flourish. Yes I said, “our kind” the frum jews who believe in ALL 613 mitzvot, not just the 6 constant or 612 but ALL the Torah.
