rav-chatzkel-rothTonight, Kolel Shomre Hachomos, the largest network of Torah and chesed in Eretz Yisroel, serving thousands of needy families throughout the year, will hold its annual Lakewood parlor meeting at K’hal Zichron Elazar, located at 16 Irene Court. The meeting will be graced with the presence of the renowned posek, Rav Yechezkel Roth, Karlsburger Rov, who will deliver a shiur on Hilchos Bein Hametzarim, which will be followed by a question-and-answer session on Daled Chelkei Shulchan Aruch. The gathering will also be addressed by Rav Shlomo Zalman Friedman, rov of K’hal Zichron Elazar.

The Nezer Gabbai Kodesh Award will be presented to R’ Colev Gestetner, a devoted gabbai of Kolel Shomre Hachomos for many years.

Kollel Shomre Hachomos-Reb Meir Baal Haness continues to expand in great acts of tzedakah not only for Talmud Torahs, yeshivos and kollelim, but for the poor and needy.

Over 350 talmidim learn in the Kollel Shomre Hachomos Talmud Torah. As they grow older, there is a yeshiva ketana, or mesivta, for the bochurim. Kollel Shomre Hachomos has an established Ezras Nisuin fund to ease parents’ heavy burden of marrying off their children. Last year alone, over 2,000 chassanim and kallahs received assistance toward establishing their new home.

Over 500 yungeleit who learn in the 19 kollelim of Shomre Hachomos are supported. For those who need, there is the largest gemach fund of its kind, providing sizeable loans interest-free. Kollel Shomre Hachomos also has hundreds of apartments in various neighborhoods built exclusively for large families with limited means. For the young married couple, there is a monthly stipend, which is also distributed to the poor and elderly. This monthly distribution is doubled twice a year – during Tishrei and Nissan, before the Yomim Tovim, to defray the high cost of food and clothing for needy families. This past Pesach, over 4,800 needy families, totaling 32,000 people, from all over Eretz Yisroel, received special grants for Yom Tov. The vast sum of $2,500,000 was distributed.

648 widows and orphans also receive monthly checks, as do 829 elderly rabbonim and their families.

Kollel Shomre Hachomos also has a beautiful old-age/nursing home in Sanhedria Murcheves, where 160 elderly people, the majority of them Holocaust survivors, are living their golden years in respect and dignity. A new state-of-the-art hospital wing has just been added.

  1. “Kolel Shomre Hachomos, the largest network of Torah and chesed in Eretz Yisroel…”

    Wow! Who determined that??

  2. The Gavad of Yerushalayim determined that in a letter that was written by him special to the event in Lakewood. And by the way, Rav Yecheskel Roth is by far the foremost Posek in USA
